I read recently that in China Siberian Tigers were being raised domestically for consumption. Is that the same as raising cattle for consumption? Not to me. I think that is very sad.
Raising Tigers for consumption ?
Not in India , John , I am sure.
In fact, it is not possible to raise tigers for individuals as Tiger is declared as India’s National Animal.
There are strict rules even to enter Tiger reserves here , let alone capture and raise them .
Thank you for the link. I never knew such things as Tiger farms exist.
In India there is a ‘Save Tiger ‘ campaign going on for a decade , since it was declared as National Animal .
It seems the number of tigers is on increase as per the latest count.
This was shot in a zoo owned by the Government. The tigers , here, come to the cage very rarely.
The cage is connected to an open space with a large pond .
I have pictures of this one in pond as well . shall post later.
Thanks again , John ! π !

Such a regal face and yet he looks so sad. I think about these grand tigers and the elephants and rhinos and such and feel sad myself that they suffer so at the hands of humans. But it is good to think, isn’t it? Uthamz, you have captured volumes in this photograph. Thank you.
Tiger is always majestic , Jackie – in every aspect . It is a joy to watch them .
Of course , they are born to roam free . It is sad to see them in captivity .
Their natural aggression fades slowly and then they are not what they are supposed to be.
But , still , the elements remain !
Wow ! Great to see dear ‘ Fisheye ‘ , again , after a looooooong time !
Hope you are fine .
I am staying with Canon. Got a Canon 100-400 lens recently.
Thank you , dear ! Happy clicking with Nikon !

I didn’t think your photo implied any cruelty to tigers. Here is the article about China that I read: http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/asia_pacific/tiger-farms-stoke-chinese-demand-for-tiger-wine-and-rugs-putting-wild-cats-in-peril/2015/01/01/6f292ea0-796b-11e4-9721-80b3d95a28a9_story.html
